Duke Energy has partnered with Bright Star Touring Theatre to provide The Energy Efficiency in Schools program to interested schools in NC, SC and IN. The program offers FREE theatrical performances designed specifically for both elementary and middle schools.
These entertaining and interactive productions offers introduction to the world of energy efficiency and are designed to educate students and families on cost-saving energy practices while introducing them to valuable energy efficiency kits that are free to eligible Duke Energy customers.
This school year, the program offers 3 performances, each tailored to resonate with various grade levels:
Elementary Schools:
“Peter Pan in Duke Energyland”
Description:
Join Peter Pan on a high-flying adventure through Energyland! Along the way, the audience helps the Lost Power Boys curb their energy-wasting habits, assists Captain Hook in making his ship more efficient, and even teaches Wendy how to make her home more energy-wise. This interactive journey makes energy conservation fun and unforgettable!
25 Minute Show intended for Grades K-2
“The Pirates of Efficient Sea”
Description:
Set sail with a band of swashbuckling pirates on a quest for energy efficiency! The crew encounters the notorious Capt’n Incandescent, a pirate who’s been at sea so long he’s forgotten the importance of conserving electricity. With humor, adventure, and hands-on learning, students will leave inspired to turn off unused lights and unplug energy-draining devices.
25 Minute Show intended for Grades 3-5
Middle Schools:
“Dr. Duke’s Electric Lab”
Description:
Welcome to the electrifying lab of Dr. Duke and the eccentric Professor Watts-on! Through engaging experiments, audience participation, and plenty of laughs, students will explore where electricity comes from, how it’s generated, and the smartest ways to conserve it. This high-energy show sparks curiosity while driving home essential lessons on energy efficiency.
40 Minute Show intended for Grades 6-8
